Critical Safety Precaution Against Repeated Resets
Never run Fuser SC Reset repeatedly in a loop if the red light comes back immediately after restarting the machine. If the printer has logged SC543, SC544, or SC545 due to a shorted power supply TRIAC or an unseated thermistor, forcing the fuser to re-energize multiple times can overheat the fusing sleeve, melt internal plastic housings, or permanently damage the main board.
If your Ricoh SP 210 re-triggers the red light immediately after a reset:
-
Bypass power strips and UPS battery backups: Laser printers draw high peak amperage when the halogen fusing lamp ignites. Unplug the printer from any surge strip, extension cord, or uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and plug it directly into a grounded wall outlet, then run the Fuser SC Reset one more time.
-
Inspect the fusing unit connectors: If you are experienced with laser printer hardware repair, unplug the power cord, allow the printer to cool completely, and check that the fusing unit thermistor and lamp wire harnesses are seated firmly and that the thermal fuse or thermostat has not blown open.
-
Service or replace the fusing assembly: When a continuity test shows an open fusing lamp, a damaged thermistor, or a blown thermal cutout, the defective fusing unit (or PSU board in the case of a shorted TRIAC) must be repaired or replaced before running the final Fuser SC Reset in Smart Organizing Monitor.
